We are seeking a dedicated Railway Team Member to join our
team. The Longleat Railway is the 2nd most intensely operated 15inch Gauge
Passenger Railway in Europe and we are looking for a Railway Team Member to
join us to support in operating the railway safely at all times and to ensure
we are constantly delivering a fantastic experience to our guests. This is an
exciting and unique role covering all aspects of operating the railway.
What does this role entail?
Reporting to the Assistant Operations Manager - Attractions,
you will keep the safety of the train and its passengers at the forefront of
your attention at all times, and ensure we are constantly delivering a
fantastic customer service to our guests. You’ll perform all daily pre-opening
safety inspections on the railway and highlight to the supervisor or team
leader any equipment that needs repair, replacing or adjusting. Assist with
Maintenance of Locomotives, coaches and track in line with the Company, manufacturer
and Health & Safety Standards both mechanically and electrically to insure
safe and efficient operation of the Longleat Railway.
Key duties will include:
- Ensure that all Railway rules and safety
regulations are adhered to at all times.
- To provide a Guest focused service at all times
ensuring that all work is completed to the highest standards of the brand.
- Perform all daily pre-opening safety inspections
on the Railway.
- Driving of diesel Locomotive.
- When driving you are solely responsible for the
safety of the train and passengers.
- Signalman & Guard Duties.
- Take part in Daily, Weekly, Monthly and Yearly
inspection and maintenance for the Railway.
About you
- Full UK driving licence
- You must be a minimum age of 21 to fulfil all
roles of Railway Team Member
- Must pass an Occupational Health Examination to
ensure they meet the ORR Standards for Train Drivers and Signalman.
- Must be able to react quickly and appropriately
under pressure in emergency situations and maintain professionalism
- High levels of concentration as all roles are
safety critical with the Railway Team
- Effective communication skills
- Passionate about delivering excellent customer
service
- Although not essential, experience of working
with diesel and/or steam locomotive engines would be highly advantageous.
Your contract
This is a permanent 24 hour contract, with working hours to
vary over a 7 day rota basis, including weekends, evening and bank holidays as
required. The earliest start time is 8am, and the latest finish time is 9pm,
varying in accordance with opening times.
